Kingfisher resort is situated in Pagudpud – The very north of the mainland.
It’s also the heart and home of Australian Kite designer Dano See. Dano has been living there for several years now and since then has built a reputable local kitesurfing manufacturing business called DSD-MFG.

The DSD-MFG Demo centre is situated right smack bang in Kingfisher resort so not only can you hang out and kite in a tropical paradise but, you can also test-drive ALL the new Kite and foil gear Dano and his team have been working on.

Where are these DSD-MFG Kite Camp weeks?
Kingfisher Resort, located in the very North of the Philippines – Pagudpud, iLocos Norte.
How to get there?
Fly to MANILA then transfer via Philippine Airlines flight to LAOAG city.
An overnight bus can be taken if you have a lot of baggage and looking for a cheaper route.
The best and most affordable way to fly?

But for the domestic flight, MANILA – LAOAG, is only Philippine airlines.

Where do you pick the guests up from?
We will pick you up from LAOAG Airport or by bus you can arrive right in Pagudpud main town – 10min away from the resort and we can get you from there.

The beach front cabins
So the wind is similar to the Aussie season – is it reliably windy?
The NE trade winds start at the end of September and blow all the way consistently through to May. There are always waves due to the trade winds but for your best significant ground swells October to January are the best. October is my favourite month for conditions and why I picked the weeks for the Camp.
What gear will you have to demo there?
Gear will be available for demo/purchase during the weeks. We will have all brands associated with DSD.MFG:
HYDE KITES: the full new range of kites for 2020. Aura Freeride, Voodoo 1+strut, Enigma Freestyle and our latest creation will be launched; the Jinx wave kite, which is the ultimate Wave/Freestyle model designed and tested right there at Kingfisher.
BWS: current models AE2 and V1be 1-strut and something new in the pipes!

DSD.MFG: Delirium2.2 and ONO2 Wave/Foiling new category.

Yes, I will be your host for the 2-weeks kiting and socialising everyday, showing you the beautiful area, other locations and walking you through all the gear you wish to try — also very relaxed discussion on products, manufacturing and design.
All our sponsored riders will be there to assist and chat with you about anything you need at all.

Are any lessons available?
Lessons are available through the DSD kite centre. We have full-time instructors living at the spot + if you’re looking for coaching our team guys can assist you.

What’s the difference between BWS kite weeks at Kingfisher and these? Is it much the same experience?
The BWS kite weeks are clinics hosted by Ben Wilson. Our weeks are aimed at product, fun and relaxation the Philippine way — no extra charges for gear usages, advice or being part of our group. Just get yourself there, and we will take care of the rest!
Fresh juice cocktails by the pool… or detox with a massage and an early night, some morning yoga and great food!
What are some activities you can do there in the case of no wind? What could the missus do while you’re kiting all day?
Sit by the pool, drinking cocktails, waterfall trips, lagoons, other resorts and beaches to visit. Pagudpud town for some cultural experiences. Rent a motor bike and explore the miles of beautiful un-touched scenery.
From the Green Yard Watersports Centre, they have SUP, Windsurfers, Wings, snorkel gear for rental and just great vibes with the locals. If you fancy Yoga and massage these are easily ordered on demand.
What’s the cost of these weeks?
There are no extra charges to join the kite weeks and demo our gear. Just advance book at kingfisher resort for the dates and get yourself there. We have lots of activities organised for the special guests of these weeks. It’s going to be a lot of fun!
If you wish to take home gear, it would be great to send a wish list to us ahead of your stay so we can prepare and help you arrange logistics to get your new toys home.
Should I bring my own gear too?
Yes, as we can’t accommodate the same sizes of kites to everyone at the same time. But you could definitely minimise the amount of gear you would normally bring.
